I'm not quite sure how I have found this idea of photographing jewellery. I started taking some portraits in my previous shoot of my model with just an earring and a ring on and felt that as an idea it really worked along with the low key lighting. Originally I was shooting with the intentions of adding some jewellery to add glamour to the images. Then I realised the images just as portraits really worked and felt really happy with them overall. I was going to expand and leave the shoot as it is and go on to a different idea, but I feel that with the time constraints I will continue with portraits with glamourous jewellery within them for this project. I feel this is still relating to fashion as jewellery has a key role in the industry.
Where Next:
I'm going to continue with taking portraits of my model with glamourous jewellery on, which I started in my Freeform project. I want to experiment with more low key lighting and getting a key light in my model's eye again which looks aesthetically beautiful. I also want to experiment with spotlight again but using a black background, which I only experimented with for a couple of photographs as I felt it wasn't working but then realised after that in black and white it really worked.
This image inspires me because of how the lighting highlights the jewellery. The lighting has been used to draw you into the beauty of the model and thus your eye moves to the right where the model has a ring on and then the lines of her hand create and draw you into the form of her neck which directs you to the necklace.
This is a beautiful low key shot which inspires me because of the soft lighting and black background. The lighting highlights the model's hair and texture of the model's dress. The lighting also subtly highlights the model's chest and leg area.
This image inspires me because of the powerful flash lighting which highlights the model's eyes and texture of her clothes. The lighting compliments the model without the lighting being too much. The powerful form of the model is highlighed and this is why this image inspires me. I want to continue and perhaps try this high key lighting with white background on my model.
This image inspires me because of the simple studio lighting yet the beauty of the actress really makes this photograph.
